Para Ti is born

In mid 1994 the Rio de Janeiro government and the BID ( Interamerican Development Bank ) started a new program, named FAVELA-BAIRRO ( Slum - District) to enable medium and large slums that already represente circa 20% of the Rio´s population, totalling 1.200.000, inhabitants to improve their social and structural conditions (rehabilitation).

At that point the URANI family with the COME NOI made a proposal to the Rio Government to include the VILA CANOA in this new program even if the population of that favela was only 2000, considering the wonderful results of CENTER FOR CHILDREN.

Rio Municipality agreed but with the proviso that the idea should also be offered to the other 200 small slums in the City totalling circa 200.000 inhabitants and that VILA CANOAS should be a pilot plan that called BAIRRINHO ( Small District ).

The condition of the Municipality was that the total cost was to be divided equally between the local government and EUROPE ( European Union, NGOs Entities and Families ).

The condition of COME NOI was that, ending the reabilitation works, the Municipality cover all the costs of Vila Canoas CHILDREN CENTER.

In order to help, receive and coordinate donations the URANI family created the PARA TI AMIZADE E SOLIDARIEDADE, a Non Profit Organization, located in Vila Canoas, along with the partnership of COME NOI, RIO DE JANEIRO MUNICIPALITY, the ROTARY CLUB from Lombardia, Italy and the Residents Association of Vila Canoas - AMAVICA and for other purposes, the DANIELE AGOSTINO FOUNDATION, and the ROTARY FOUNDATION both from New York, USA. This was a extraordinary help to improve living conditions in the Community.
